Merged Cells
Occasionally, text may be required to be spread across several cells. It might also be required to be centred across these cells.
Excel allows cells to be merged together to form one big cell. The required alignment can then be done.
In the example spreadsheet, a row has been inserted above row 6 and the word “Transactions” has been inserted in cell B6. This is to be merged and centred across cells B6, C6 and D6.
To Merge Cells
1. Highlight the required cells
2. Right click over the selection
3. Choose “Format cells”
4. Click on the “Alignment” tab
5. In the “Text Control” section, put a tick in the “Merge cells” box
