Planning – When the customer’s order triggers a requirement for goods, the requirement will be combined with other orders. A production plan is created by the production department in order to produce the products required to fulfil the orders. In order to achieve the production of the goods for the order, raw materials will need to be purchased.
Purchasing – The list of raw materials, and services, that are required in order to meet the requirements of the customer are received by the purchasing department who will then send purchase orders to selected suppliers for delivery of the raw materials to meet a set required delivery date.
