Task B

1. Format column E so that each value appears with a comma separator for thousands and no decimal places.

2. Hide columns F and G.

3. Make all text in rows 3 and 4 bold and centred in their cells, if you have not already done so.

4. In cell H3, enter the word “Service” and in cell H4 enter the word “award”, making sure that they are both bold and centred in their cells.

5. Insert a row in between rows 2 and 3.

6. In cell D2, enter the words “Award date”. Make this bold and ensure that the column is wide enough for it to fit in.

7. In cell E2, enter the date 01/01/2010. Ensure that it is formatted as a date in the format dd/mm/yyyy.

8. Enter a formula in cell H6 to calculate whether an employee was employed before 01/01/2010, and may receive a service award. Use the =IF function to do the calculation and use Cell E2 to compare against the employee’s start date. For example, to calculate cell H6, If the value in C6 is before the value in cell E2, state “Yes” otherwise state “No”.

9. Copy this formula down to cells H7 to H12. You may need to use absolute cell references.

10. Save the spreadsheet with the name S3Exercise2B
