Software as a Service (SaaS) are applications hosted as service providers on the Internet. SaaS is business software which falls under Web 2.0. It removes the need to install an app on a user’s own computer and is regarded as a way for organisations to acquire the same benefits as commercial software, but at minimal cost. SaaS alleviates the necessity of software maintenance and support, but leave users no control over the software and other requirements needed.
Other terms used in this domain include Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS).
