The primary purpose of any supply chain is to satisfy customer needs whilst in the process generating profits for itself.
There are two types of supply chain:
- Internal – This type of supply chain deals with the functions, departments and business units within the organisation.
- External – These supply chains involve any external areas, such as other companies and the relationships formed with the customer via marketing and sales as well as the suppliers through the purchasing of the goods.
This supply chain is vital as it allows the whole supply chain to work to its maximum effectiveness.
