A thorough look at the risks of failure is always expedient when starting a new undertaking. For AI projects, there are special considerations to add to what is a customary analysis. An autonomous AI agent, or robot, may cause unintended damage to others as well as to its creator. Every industry has experienced spectacular failures, and AI may experience similar growing pains. Some advanced AI applications employ vision technologies to perceive objects, followed by a language to describe what they just saw. Combining two or more technologies in one application is complex and can reach computational limits very quickly. Complexity must be considered before forging ahead. AI is still in its infancy, and consistent accuracy is vital to preserving trust in the technology.
