Routing and Processing Times
The manufacture of products or components will require processes that use a specific piece of machinery. These processes define the ‘route’ along which the item must travel through the manufacturing facility.
For the trainers this could be the building of the shoe, moving on to the adding of the hard sole, and finishing with the addition of the laces, before the product moves on to the packaging stage.
Standard processing times need to be determined for each step in the process to determine how long it will take to manufacture one product. This standard processing time can then be used to determine how long it will take to fulfil the order.
